Proven performance in every ECOSlide® window
Quality, performance and consistency are at the heart of what we do here at Victorian Sliders®. That’s why we have invested over £100k in a new state-of-the-art testing laboratory at our South Wales factory in Ammanford.
The new facility, which has taken a year to develop, means that we will be able to test and monitor product performance before it even goes into production. This assures the structural integrity of our product as all component parts of our windows are tested, verified and continuously improved before they reach site.
Why have we invested in an in-house testing facility?
External testing has its place, but relying solely on third-party schedules can result in slow response times and delays in product development. Having the laboratory in-house means we can:
Access the testing lab in under a minute due to its proximity to the production lines.
Carry out ongoing checks to ensure products are meeting and maintaining quality standards.
Respond quickly and efficiently to any concerns or specification updates.
Maintain consistency across production runs.
Comply with essential standards and requirements.
This investment gives us greater control over our product performance and highlights our commitment to ensuring that Victorian Sliders’® products are of the highest quality.
What we test
The testing lab, which is made up of five bespoke machines, enables us to carry out six different key tests to monitor and maintain the quality and performance of our ECOSlide® windows. These include:
Cold Impact Test (BS EN 477:2018) – Profile is tested by freezing it at –10 °C before subjecting the sample to a controlled falling mass impact. The profile is then inspected for cracking or damage.
Optical Imaging Machine - Using optical imaging technology, sample profiles are measured against the approved standard to identify any dimensional variations.
Weld Test Machine (BS EN 514:2025) – 90-degree welded corner sections are subjected to a controlled load, testing the strength of the weld and ensuring it can withstand specification loading.
Gen Lab Oven– Used to carry out two performance assessments:
Heat Reversion Test (BS EN 479:2018) – Profile is heated to 100 °C for one hour. It is then assessed on its ability to return to its original dimensions and specification prior to heating.
Heat Exposure Test (BS EN 478:2025) – Profile is exposed to 150°C heat for thirty minutes before being allowed to cool naturally and inspected for any blistering, cracks or holes.
Impact Test (BS EN ISO179-1:2023) – Charpy impact testing is carried out to measure the force required to break or bend the sample profile. The force recorded is then measured against the standard’s requirements.
All our testing and quality processes are carried out in line with our ISO 9001- certified quality management system.
What this means for our customers
The new facility provides a range of benefits not just for the product and production process, but also for our customers:
Increased confidence and reassurance – performance and quality are verified before installation without negatively impacting lead times.
Improved professionalism – Enhanced in-house capabilities and commitment to ensuring that every window is manufactured to the highest standard.
Greater consistency and reliability –Reduced variation in the product with issues being identified and rectified earlier in the process.
A Long-term Investment in Quality
The investment and subsequent assembly of this testing facility forms part of our ongoing investment into our manufacturing capabilities, product performance, and quality control and assurance.
By testing and refining products in-house, we can continue to support our customers by consistently producing reliable, well-engineered ECOSlide® sash windows.
